Happy 1 Month Anniversary 2 Me!

One Month ago today..........I joined the gym!

Yep pretty proud of me for doing it, I go minimum 3 times per week (I've been a keener and going 4). Hee Hee!

I am very proud of myself and I feel good about it. Very good in fact.

I am over-coming that feeling of I don't belong - somewhat.....and I am branching out and trying my best and making the most of my visits.

The scales aren't falling by any means but I've lost 7 lbs and I know I've gained muscles (boy do I know) so my friend and I figured out that if I lost 7 lbs every month for 12 months that would be......84 lbs. Putting me underweight!

So I'm on the right track and I like it. Some days its a struggle but I have a few friends who are there and between us we can work with each other...>I know we can.

Like Les I want to be in a better place next year. Life is a highway and I finally want to bike it rather than ride in the backseat of a car =)

Can't Fool Me or Break me Down

OMFG! That child, that child, that child......why the hell are kids so much of a fuckin' pain in the fuckin' ASS?

That child thought she could break me down, she really absolutely did! What a dumb notion that was. Totally dumb, she only pissed me off more. You can't win, resistance is futile.

It has not been 1 month since school started and DD has pulled out all the stops in one evening.

Let me set the scene...

Monday night, in my kitchen, at the table - for 2 fuckin hours!!!

Homework for the week consists of 3 double sided sheets of work (2 math, 1 literacy), 5 spelling words, and 10 mins of reading every day. Thats it - for the week!

So on Monday night I say...choose 1 sheet to do (she did - Math). She completes the first side with a little bit of encouragement required.....great...the 2nd side, the first 3 items were easy, counting by 1, filling in the blanks. It was the next 3 questions that caused all the problems.....the first one said: Count by 2's from 12 to 22, then Count by 10's from 30 to 90, lastly count backwards from 60 to 35 by 5's.

Now that last one, took 40 minutes!!! Yep 40 minutes. Do you know how pissy I get with 40 minutes of fighting? Super Pissy! She was not willing to try, not willing to talk about it, nothing. When I finally said:

Mom: "you know what I would do? I would take a scrap peice of paper and go forwards, you can count 35-60 right?"

DD: Yes

Mom: Then do that

DD: Wah but that won't work either

Mom: why not

DD: Cuz it won't be backwards

Please someone shoot me in the fucking eyeball please!!!!

She ended up with 2 time outs, 2!

She lost TV, she lost me reading to her, she lost EVERY FUCKING THING!

I became very nasty and made her do more, more, more...you want to fight and be a big PITA for a battle you will ultimately lose then you will pay the piper in dividens.

So I spoke with her teacher yesterday. She was apauled by the reaction I told her I received over the homework. Of course she was.....because little miss cherub isn't like that right? WRONG!

I even told her I thought DD didn't deserve her reading level either. Her reading is terrible.

The teacher verified that DD can read very well, she is a "star" at math and literacy and is in the very top of her class. Although she does not take her time to ensure quality and pride into her work. That was the ONLY thing the teacher wants from her...what?

This lazy kid at home is a star at school? WTF? Someone save me.

So last night the child did her homework with her father, whom I warned if she makes one side remark no TV no Brownies...Last week he took away TV and let her earn it back all within 15 minutes...yes Genius that was a stellar performance!!!! Way 2 Go! totally worked - NOT! He was given the death sentence if he so much as fucked up this homework review.

I have Good News to report! The child saved her life last evening and completed all her work in the 20 minutes alloted for homework, she kept her TV for bed, she went to Brownies and cuddled with us before bed.

Tonight, round 2....we'll see how it goes. I will break that child down if its the last thing I do, she will do her homework and she will do it right!!! That I promise her!

Keep on the Sunny Side of Life....

Do any of you remember the Aubrey Hanson show on CFNB every Saturday AM at 6 or 6:30 am when you were a kid? I used to climb up in between my mom and dad and lay there and listen to this show, they started and ended the show with this song.......its a good childhood memory.
**********************************
By: June Carter Cash
Songwriters: Carter, A P; Garrett, Gary

Well there's a dark and a troubled side of life.
There's a bright and a sunny side too.
But if you meet with the darkness and strife,
The sunny side we also may view.

Keep on the sunny side, always on the sunny side,
Keep on the sunny side of life.
It will help us every day,
it will brighten all the way,
If we keep on the sunny side of life.

Oh, the storm and its fury broke today,
Crushing hopes that we cherish so dear.
Clouds and storms will in time pass away.
The sun again will shine bright and clear.
Keep on the sunny side, always on the sunny side,
Keep on the sunny side of life.

It will help us every day,
it will brighten all the way,
If we'll keep on the sunny side of life.
Let us greet with a song of hope each day.

Though the moments be cloudy or fair.
Let us trust in our Saviour always,
To keep us, every one, in His care.
Keep on the sunny side,
always on the sunny side,

Keep on the sunny side of life.
It will help us every day,
it will brighten all the way,
If we'll keep on the sunny side of life.
If we'll keep on the sunny side of life.

Stoopid

I've heard time and time again about that terrible baby brain we all get. The jokes, that we pushed out our brain when we gave birth.

Well I think I may have?

Did you know my 7 year old is smarter than a 5th grader. Yep, she is a genius, with only being in GRADE 2.

Last night she found herself in a whole heap of trouble and I suspect tonight will be the same.

My spawn believed that she knew better than I did.

Boy was she wrong!

Especially when she was punished twice in her room with the door closed both times. (snicker - you so picked the wrong chick to piss off).

Then I was so mad I told her since she spelled spelling (spilling) and literacy (liteacy) wrong from the first day of school and I've been telling her all along to take her time and she did not I made her write those 2 words out 10 times each as well.

You want punishment - you got it!

She lost her TV and thought she could be good for 5 minutes and earn it back - as her father has done that in the past.

I'm not daddy little girl.

I was so mad. She cried and cried about no TV - I threw a book at her and said "here do something else like read"....

She fell asleep with the book on her chest. Can't wait for tonights battle....bring it on baby! Bring it on!

Where 2 Begin?

I have 2 issues I want to discuss in this post. So I'll just start with what happened first..

Last Sunday while at mass the priest was moving right along in his sermon when while giving his...whatchamacallit.....epilogue maybe? Anyway, he brought the topic around to babies and invited the parishners to stand outside the Morgantaller clinic in protest against killing fetus'. Now I am not going to discuss the right and wrong of abortion BUT when I drive by on Monday morning and all the seniors citizens are standing outside the clinic with their rosaries I do have a problem with that. Luckily my daughter did not look up and say "mom whats an abortion?" because at that point I would have hi-jacked his sermon and had something to say....I was mighty tempted after mass to let him know it was very inappropriate but when you encourage your seniors to go out there and stand and do your (God's) dirty work I do, I didn't see him standing out there? I was not impressed. Especially since it was a pre-lude to "Family Fun Day" I mean really, you had a church full of children of all ages. Do we need to educate them a little more on how life sucks and that sometimes people abort babies for various different reasons? I don't think so?

My 2nd topic is MacKenzie Phillips - Holy Shit! Are you shocked? I know I am? The fact her father had sex with her for a span of 10 years and she eventually consented for this to take place? The drugs the parties.....the one question Oprah failed to ask is about the mother. Why was she living with dad only when they split? Why did he choose her to be his love machine? Holy Shit! That is some messed up stuff.

Do I believe her, hell yeah. Crap that made my jaw drop. I feel very sad for her, she lost her life to sex, drugs and rock n roll at a high price.

My Confession - I am such a Sinner!!!

Forgive me Friends for I have sinned this early in the morning......

I lied to my daughter.

Yes I lied to her.

She wanted to know about the clip on baby Wesley's belly (her teacher from last year had a baby - she sent in pictures).

I told her that is how mom & baby are connected, that is how the baby gets nourishment, blood and everything they need to survive while inside mommy. When the baby is born that cord is cut off which makes that big clip on there, it falls off in a few day and vola - a belly button. (The story should have ended at this point but oh no.....)

B:Where does the rest of it go?

Me:Rest of what?

B: The Imbilical Cord? Do you keep it.

Me: Yes some of it.

B: Where did they put the cord back mom?

Me: Into my belly.

B: So I came out of your stomach?

Me: Yes

B: They cut open your stomach?

Me: Well....yeah?

B: I came out of your stomach, they cut the cord and they put it back inside you? Did it hurt?

Me: Well you know when you fall off your bike and it hurts, but then 30 minutes later you get back on? Yes

Well its like that, sure it hurts but because I had you I didn't even notice the hurt, it went away.

B: Cool I came out of your belly.

Me: Yep ya did!

I thought, if Lee rolls over and calls me out I'm smothering him right then and there.

My heart was beating fast. I was sure she was going to ask for a peek at my scar!

OMG!
OMG!
OMG!

I wasn't ready for the whole "natural birth" talk.

Should I have? Did I play that out wrong? I didn't have time to think?

I didn't feel she cared or needed to know. Babies come out of bellies - period! Right?

Puffy Chest, Big Head

I just got the call all parents would love to have from the Principle....

When the phone rang and I picked it up and he said "this is the Principle" my heart stopped, my jaw dropped until he said "everything is just fine, nothing wrong, this is a good call".

Um ok?

He called to tell me that my DD was standing in his office and that she was sent down to his office because her teacher felt she needed to be awarded with an acknowledgement of her excellent acheivements.
Those achievements this week were:
  • Exemplary Kindness
  • Exemplary Politeness
  • Helpful to her classmates and her teacher
  • Extreme Leadership

HIS words - NOT mine!

Hows that for a call from the school? Huh? Huh?

Yesiree, I am grinning from ear to ear...it is sure nice to know when your not around you know you did something right.

Today I am thankful for my little girl and all that is and all that she will become in the future!

It has been a few days since I blogged. Not sure what I want to blog about? It has been a roller coaster kind of week.

With school starting, a new after-school care provider, a bus ride. Car-pooling again. Organizing our time schedules. It sure can make you crazy.

Last week our goal was to get our girl in bed by 8pm, asleep before 9pm, this week she goes into our bed at 7:30 we read a book, eat a popsicle, watch some tv and we cuddle, where she is asleep by 8:20. yeah! She is waking up in the mornings by herself, we do not have to shake her awake. Such a blessing.

We had friends stop by last night and it was 8:30 before we got our kid into bed, they had their girls with them. Can't very well send a kid to bed with kids sitting in the kitchen....

What do you dress a kid in for clothes this time of year? My goodness, I have no clue. It has been layers but she is dying to wear long sleeves so today I gave her the green flag. Whatever!
I am sure the warmer clothes will be fine....which reminds me I totally forgot to put a change of clothes in her bag. Good Grief there is so much to do.

Anyway its Thursday and I am happy for that....not sure when we'll hit the FREX but hopefully soon.

Men! Can be such Arse-holes

Why is it Men feel they need to play the alpha-male syndrome? What the hell is wrong with them? I work in a male dominated sector and some of these men can drive me right up the wall on any given day.

You do not have to be a jerk because you don't like the fact I said "no", what are you 6 years old freak-tard?

Give me a GD break! You make me want to be a bitch to you......waltzing into my office with your fists on your hips telling me "to do it now" is not going to get you anywhere with me, and don't try to brow beat me or force me to do anything....although those idiots have tried time and time again only to find out that by going to my manager only finds them at fault. Ha! You dumb ass. What did you think? That you were right?

Women can and are right! Just cuz you think we are weak and for some reason you think we are stupid, we are NOT! I make you look like an ass on a regular basis....but keep trying I am sure you'll get one over on me at some point.

If you did what you were asked to do we wouldn't be having this convo.

Condescending attitudes are totally going to make me bring out my whacking stick, you can talk tech-no-babble all you want but it doesn't make me think your SMRT it makes me think your trying to make me fall asleep from your drony voice that sounds like bullshit to me.

Go ahead and try, I dare you....although my manager won't be happy once he finds out what you've done......since he's talked to most of you a few times about your dumb ass ways!

If your so smart how is you keep doing everything backwards, wrong or in a really stupid manner? hmmmm, interesting.....and you thought you were right, smart, and superior.

Your not! I am your equal, this is an office setting, not a cave, act like your a professional and I'll put MY club down.

First Day of School

Phew! Finally the first day of school.

Although the eve before had me in quite a dither I think I am over-coming it now.

Do you remember your first days of school, any of them?

Now the kids know who their teachers are before hand, they all know what they want to wear, who they are hoping they see.......it is quite a procedure.

I find now since my daughter is going to school the past 3 years have upset me just as much as my own first days....

This morning (and last night) I was going to throw up! I felt like I was totally going to woof my cookies.

Every first day of school for me was a panic.....I threw up every first day of school from grades 1 - 11, not sure why grade 12 I got off scott free but for 11 years each first day made me hurl.

I sure hope I can calm my stomach down for my daughters sake?

Pleasure & Pain

This end of week comes with pleasure and pain....

Pleasure because I am camping this weekend, pain because it is the last of the summer.

Pleasure because school starts and my DD can stop bumming to wear her new clothes, pain because school starts.

Pleasure because I have a Rebel to try out for a few weeks, pain because I am nervous

Pleasure because it is Friday and a long weekend, Pain because it will be over too fast.

Pleasure because I get to hang out with good friends this weekend, pain because it will be weeks before I see them again.

A New Day

As of Sunday my committments to my ball teams have ended. It is bittersweeet. I really do hate saying good bye to them, all 26 kids are special to me. Everyone of them made leaps and bounds this year......the party was fun and all of the kids walk around so proud with their medals on their chest....way too cute.

We announced that we are not caring for a younger team and opened up the opportunity to anyone who is interested in taking it over with my help extended to them the first year. Haven't heard from any takers yet.

This week has us planning for our last weekend of camping...the campground is having a yard sale, each camper brings their own items and you sell them at your campsite. Last year we sold $85 worth - not bad. I already have a truck full of items....I informed my daughter that anything that belongs to her that sells is her money....she has been loading up the boxes of items to sell - SCORE! Mama is one smart cookie.....yee haw!

Although she is looking forward to buying items at the yard sale as well. Oye!
