Bean Peace ~ A poem by Drew K.

A mystery wrapped in brown,
A fragile enigma,
Enveloping the senses,
With the earthy steam
Of a bean.

The mind wrapped in warmth,
The essence of dark roast,
Heating from within,
The senses thrill,
With every lingering
Sniff of the aroma
In the mug

This mom has lost her MIND

I feel like I am literally livin' la vida loca!

I will be so glad when Brownies, Dance, Sunday School and the other activities are done for the year, oh but wait......one activity goes all year long.....horse riding! Ah yes.

But that one makes me happy too.

I love spending time at the barn, I love the fact my daughter feels she isn't "pulling her weight" when she doesn't go, I like the fact her work ethic is strong at such a young age.

Seeing my child shovel crap for hours and smile while doing it makes my heart warm, to her it isn't gross, smelly or weird. She enjoys scrubbing buckets with scum, brushing down filthy horses, crawling under them to wash their bellies and of course jumping in the hay mound with the other girls.

Unfortunately, I am allergic to everything in the barn but the horses and it makes me feel horrible for most of the week, whats a little wheezing?

Our first show is this coming weekend, just for fun but a lot of work. We won't have our usual horse so that was a little nerve racking until we met him last night, our little dirty horse is as friendly as can be and we instantly fell in love with him.

Our first class is "costume class", well not knowing a lot about it I hit the internet and quickly found my mission.......I am still not 100% we can deploy the mission as well but I'll do my best, which will include less sleep but hey, it will make for an amazing scrapbook page doncha think?

I guess I'd better gear up for spending my summer at the barn! Oh well it could be way worse. Plus I get to ride every now and again too, which is music to my ears...........

Thank you Value Village for having almost everything I needed to do up this costume correctly.

I'm Going to Hell 4 this.....

As you all know I no problems with my daughter enjoying all kinds of music, lyrics, etc....to an extent, Buckcherry, Eminem, etc....are out and haven't been introduced but I'd like to show you the lyrics to our new fav song......

Bowling For Soup - Hooray for Beer

I was lost and down
Before you turned my life around
I never knew a love like this could happen
And they said I was too young
But when I turned 21
You gave me hope that's everlasting

Now everything is going my way
The sun's shining all around me
Bells are ringing and the birds are singing now
I wanna tell the whole world

Hooray For Beer!
I'm really glad you're here
Let's make this moment last
You feel so right
Wanna be with you all night
Shout it out
Hooray For Beer!

Hee, hee, this morning my SIL were laughing our butts off while the kid sang at the top of her lungs and had no idea what were laughing at then said "I love this song Mom"!

It is a very catchey tune?

Aright, moving on.....

I am not in the business of making this blog anything more than my domain to come and give my thoughts and share my stories with the blog world.

On that note.......has anyone made vacation plans yet?

Better get on that, I just spoke with someone who has 30 nights already booked for camping!

Wow!

Did you know Ree Drummonds blog http://thepioneerwoman.com/ makes a substantial amount by writing a blog, just the ads people pay for alone gives her a sweet little nestegg.

I SAID CHOCOLATE!!!

Yesterday my husband planned a small family get together to celebrate my birthday. How sweet of him, even though he bought steak, potatoes, veggies and told everyone they were coming for cake? Luckily they hadn't eaten yet, he told them 5pm.

Men! Why can't they just tell people what they are planning, just say it!!!

Anyway....where was I?

Oh right, cake......as we all finished our meal my husband brought the cake up, now in our house everyone gets cake, everyone but me gets a vanilla cake, his family are all "vanilla" people, in my eyes I don't want cake if it isn't chocolate.

I look down and say "vanilla cake? why vanilla, that isn't my choice of cake?".

He says "well...........its a long story but after I got home yesterday from doing groceries and put them all away it was 7pm, I then realized I didn't buy a cake for you and took daughter to grammies house and drove like a maniac to town hoping and praying you didn't come home early and meet me on the road, you would have bee suspicious had I not waved or pulled over, I was back home in under 1 hour with the only cake sobey's had that wasn't a huge slab, I looked for chocolate but there wasn't any".......

WTH? No chocolate? Now I know your all thinking, "now Melanie my husband wouldn't make a special trip to town just to make sure I had birthday cake, be nice".

Whatever!

I'll buy my own chocolate cake - today! I will not be gyped out of my chocolate birthday cake no matter what he did to get me a cake period! He could have gone to another store for cake??????

Sorry, I want, what I want and it was not Vanilla Birthday Cake!!!!!

in 34 years....

34 years seems like a long time when measuring some items, but in other ways it is not.

I have decided to create my bucket list and next year on my birthday I will come back and hopefully have crossed off a few items, well at least one.

Here goes....

  • Vacation to a warm & sunny place
  • Go back to Disney
  • Be less heavy (in the weight department)
  • Try a kick boxing class
  • Get back on a horse
  • Win the Lottery Jackpot
  • Move into the city
  • Become more accepting of others
  • Allow myself to be more relaxed
  • Let loose
  • Go out more with friends and couples
  • See more concerts
  • Be spontaneous
  • Learn to turn my brain off at night
  • Finish the basement
  • Smile more
  • Be less cynical
  • Travel to Europe
  • See Vegas & the Hoover Dam
  • Buy a smokin' hot dress!!!!

Thanks but No Thanks

Since last September I have been encouraged to become a "volunteer" with the ______ unit and as you can likely guess I am.

I have to say my standards for how things should be are way to high. I know it must be shocking for you to hear that but yes I set the bar high on what I want.

Now last year gave me some reservation about the entire group and how it was run, after being on the behind the scene trip these past months has sold me to the fact I don't want to be a part of something that just isn't right.

Poor planning, poor communication, poor attitudes, and down right nastiness amongst the leaders is totally unacceptable. I will admit I've held back a lot of my disdain (yes I have honest) I can't any longer, especially when the main leader called to ask me to become a leader officially next year.

I told her I'd think about it.

Honestly I wanted to say "are you crazy lady" right there but I chickened out.

I am totally not doing it and my daughter will not either, the group is small, only 4 girls and 13 girls in total from all levels. I have no idea why all the leaders feel all the girls should do the same damn things, why would little kids do what bigger kids are doing just because their a small group? Why go through the badge earning stuff when you can't even earn the badge? Plan your own crap!

Mind you this is totally my own opinion, maybe I'm missing something but I don't think I am.

To top it all off, if anyone has ever been involved in something their own child is they know how difficult that line of parent / leader is. I want to not be involved in something my kid is, she won't stop bugging, she can't stand the fact other kids want to do good deeds like clean up and such, last night she tried to overpower another kid for the garbage can to clean up after I asked the other one to help and cracked her head so hard on the basement column I thought for sure she had a consussion. Not to mention she sulks when she doesn't get her way in front of everyone!!!!! Totally unacceptable. I know she is a kid but as a leader your own child can't pull that shit, it isn't cool and embarrasses me!

I think its time to move onto something else or nothing at all?

My Brother, Husband & South Park

Sunday night my brother & his girlfriend from Toronto called to wish me a happy birthday...um ok but your a week early I told them?

K: was like "huh, no it was Friday wasn't it?"

Me: Um no its this coming Friday

K: "Really? I thought I missed it, whose birthday in the fam is the 10th"

Me: Well Friday was the 9th and nobody's. Mike is the 15th and I'm the 16th

K: "oh wow! We didn't miss it M".....

LOL I couldn't help but say "K you've never been early for anything so you can mark this one down you are the first to wish me Happy Birthday this year" ha, ha, ha

He asked if he could add that information to his resume......funny guy.

On that note, late last week K joined "BookFace" and had lots of questions. Now when I received the friend request I almost fell off my chair, my hubby was shocked and said "you told me he'd never join"........well he did.

He had tons of questions to ask me about it and the security settings, etc.....very funny since he has a computer science degree but whatever!

He then says "did you ever see the FB South Park episode?" He then proceeds to laugh his butt off trying to tell me all about it. Too funny! Who would have thought he watched South Park? Totally not his style but come to find out he even watches the Trailer Park Boys, hubby almost fell out of bed when I told him that one, we both figured it was "beneath" him but a good ol' boy from the country can't resist either show......no matter how high they climb :o)

So I'm now chatting with M about this and that and her little chipacado (B) when K yells "hey its on right now you two, say bye"......

Well ok then....I have to say my brother is so funny that way.......that boy will be late for his own funeral but he can quote TV, Movie & Music lyrics & lines like nobody else......I wouldn't trade him for the world!

Practice What U Preach(er)

Did you hear the news today? Didja?

So that Mr. Little who for the past 8 years or more who has refused to pay his taxes because they are going toward paid abortions......yeah him.

He is going to jail - federal, the big house. Which all this time I've been saying to myself pay your GD taxes like the rest of us, who says YOUR taxes go toward abortions, they don't sit aside my money or your money specifically it goes into the big melting pot of all "their" money dude!

So it has come to light that he is Catholic and his Arch Bishop preached to the people in his pews to do this, go forward and refuse to pay your taxes as it is YOUR money paying for these sinful abortions!!!

OMFG!!!!!

Records show that the Arch Bishop PAID HIS TAXES!!!! WTFH?

That brings me back to a mass we sat through last fall at our very own church when all of those senior's were hanging out at Morgantallers (sp?) clinic in Fredericton and I thought it was odd. At that mass, our priest during his service "encouraged" parishioners to protest "with their signs" at the Abortion Clinic in Fredericton, it was during "Family Mass" with all of our children sitting in the pews....WTH man, I looked at hubby and thought if my child turns to me and asks what is abortion I will stand up in mass and tell him to shut his fuckin' mouth because children were in da house!!!! Dude think!!!!!

So that next day when we drove by I commented "any of you see any Priests there?"

Nope me neither!!!!

There is a reason the phrase Practice What You Preach rings so true because it is.

Almost Died

That is what I thought anyway. It was last night about 2 hours after our yummy ham & potatoe scollop dinner.

I had been looking so forward to it until I was praying to die.

I completely acting like a fool all weekend long, I ate cream cheese, cheese, milk chocolate, more cheese, dill pickle dip with sour cream & cream cheese and to top it all off I put Carnation Milk in my potatoe scallop!

What the hell was I thinking? I wasn't apparently!

I was so sick my body rejected the dairy like never before, my husband thought he was going to call the ambulance while I was throwing up, crying, laying in a puddle on the floor. I thought somebody was stabbing me from the top of my ribs to my pelvic bone, I honestly thought the pain would never stop, it barely gave me any rest between waves, it was much like labour contractions.

I had a fever, chills and was exhausted, I still am today, my body is worn out from all the fighting it did last night, my head hurts, and I'm totally afraid of food today so far I've had 1/2 cup of coffee and got scared about the caffeine, some honey, almond crunch cereal with lactose free milk, V8 Fushion juice and apple sauce.

My stomach is sore today and I fear it will take me well into the weekend to get all cleaned back up again. It is such a set back for me. I have been so careful and in only 4 days I messed it all up royally.

I am so stupid to have done this to myself, I felt so dumb I couldn't even justify staying home today because it was all self inflicted and just having 4 days off doesn't look well to call in sick now does it?

I can't wait to go home tonight and have some white fish or soup, nothing to scarey for me.
